LET’S CLEAN THE WORLD

Many people ask about the meaning of “let’s clean the world”!

We believe it means keeping the environment clean and safeguarded with our own hands and common collaboration.

On 29th September 2001 at 8.00 a.m. We were sleepy and all cold and expecting a boring day, but it tuned out sunny and cheerful. All the 3G students attended the activity and they were accompanied by proff. Giuseppe Cassone, Anna Maria Picchiura and Carmelo Foti.

We went to Limena middle school where we took part at a short lecture by some exponents of “Lega Ambiente” about the different day we would have.

Our aim would be picking up the urban rubbish that people throw on the river banks without caring the environmental consequences.

They gave us some plastic bags, gloves and yellow fluorescent coats which made us resemble ”Canary Tweetty”.

After that we were divided into groups and we started our adventure along Brentella banks.

At first we weren’t very keen on putting our hands in the rubbish but then our fears were won by the harmony and the complicity of our groups and we played the role of dustmen just for a day. After filling up the first bags with refuse, we had a short break with a big pizza and some sandwiches.

Then we continued our adventure along the Common Park which separates the road from the canal banks and we were left speechless when we saw the amazing canoeing of two people.

The time passed on very quickly, we didn’t realize how soon we arrived at Brentella Weirs at the end of the morning.

The view in front of our eyes was fascinating and the idea of having such a lot of rubbish in our bags made us happy but we were also sad considering how man always throws away his wastes without thinking about consequences.

That day was very important because we learned to live in the respect of the environment.

PULIAMO IL MONDO

Molti si chiederanno cosa significa: “PULIAMO IL MONDO”!

Per noi è significato salvaguardare e pulire l’ambiente tramite le nostre forze e la collaborazione comune.

Il 29 settembre 2001 alle 8.00 pieni di sonno e tutti infreddoliti ci aspettavamo una giornata poco entusiasmante, che invece si è rivelata piena di sole e allegria.

Animati dalla ”voglia di fare” ci siamo diretti alla scuola media di Limena dove abbiamo partecipato ad una breve esposizione fatta dai volontari di Lega Ambiente che ci hanno proposto una giornata diversa dal solito. Lo scopo dell’uscita era raccogliere i rifiuti urbani che l’uomo, senza preoccuparsi delle conseguenze, getta nell’ambiente.

Ci hanno fornito sacchi, guanti, casacche giallo fluorescenti niente a confronto del “Canarino Titti”.

Così conciati ci siamo divisi in gruppi e abbiamo iniziato la nostra avventura lungo l’argine del Brentella. L’idea di mettere le nostre mani, se pur coperte da guanti, in mezzo ai rifiuti non ci entusiasmava, ma poi vedendo l’affiatamento e la complicità che era nata tra noi siamo riusciti ad immergerci nel ruolo di spazzini per una giornata; così, con i sacchi mezzi pieni di immondizia e la pancia che brontolava ci siamo abbuffati di pizze e panini.

Abbiamo continuato poi la nostra avventura lungo i giardini che separano la strada dagli argini del fiume e siamo rimasti affascinati nell’osservare le acrobazie acquatiche di due canoisti.

Osservando l’orologio ci siamo resi conto che il tempo era trascorso molto velocemente, così per concludere in bellezza la mattinata siamo arrivati alle “Chiuse del Brentella”.

Il panorama che si presentava davanti ai nostri occhi era affascinante e l’idea di aver raccolto un’elevata quantità di rifiuti ci rattristava.

L’uomo, infatti, quando getta qualcosa per terra non pensa alle conseguenze del suo semplice atto. Questa giornata è servita a farci riflettere sulle nostre azioni quotidiane perseverando nel rispetto dell’ambiente e del “mondo” che ci circonda.

All’attività hanno partecipato gli allievi delle classi 2g e 3g ed eravamo accompagnati dai prof.: Giuseppe Cassone, Anna Maria Picchiura e Carmelo Foti.
