On November 20th , 2001 we, as the first class of our school, played a business game. At 7.30 we met us in front of our Multi Media Room. At first Mr. Svoboda explained us the rules of the group work, which we had to look at. Secondly he explained the contents of the construed the papers. And then the case study was dispensed and Mr. Svoboda answered all our questions. In a rural district, a chemical company will build a firm. They can chose between two places but the alderman, the club of the conservationist, the ministry of economics and the cultivators have also something to say for or against it. The press must keep up-to date the population. On place A there are wine yards and when there the firm will build on this place you haven’t got so many vineyards. On place B there is a nature-sanctuary ,there are some animals that you don’t see in another places in the world. And lots of quarry ponds. Our job was, to find a way to that all groups can agree with the end result. Mot all groups want to make the same. The problem was that the club of the conservationist only speaks against place B because it’s their nature-sanctuary and they were for place A. The cultivators must decide if they give the land. The ministry of economics had also un hand if they give some money for this project. You can say all groups must present their arguments to bring as much groups to their side as possible. At the end we cane to the following compromise: We will build the firm on place B and the town will have to pay for the streets, electricity and water-… etc. The farmers will give their land to the owners of the firm and will not get any money. The chemical company will have to finance that the strange animals can be settled in another area and the lake can be made again on a different place. At 11 o’clock Mr. Svoboda told us that we have to prepare ourselves for the conference in which all groups have to present their statements. The conference started at 11.15 o’clock and Mr. Svoboda was the Chief of the conference ( Dr. h.c. Feigenbutz). The statements were presented and the questions were answered in the discussion. After that the feed-back –round came and we could say our opinions and make suggestions to improve the things. At 1.30 p.m. it was the end of the business-game.
