4. Short presentation of the school
Our school "Pietro
Scalcerle" is located in Padova, a small city in the north-east of
Italy, near Venice. A mostly flat region but with groups of hills and the
wonderful Alps nearby. The area is full of small factories which are giving
Italy new economic impulse at present.
The school has got three branches: a Linguistic section, a Chemistry-Biology one
and a Dietary one: The aim of "Pietro
Scalcerle" school is to provide a solid education, together with
professional competence and flexibility. Modern teaching techniques are
constantly employed (audiovisual aids, computers, monitoring, etc.) also to
increase understanding and tolerance among students and to develop greater
awareness of their own tasks.
Our school is, or has been, partner of lots of projects ("River Brenta
project", "Quality in labs", "Leonardo project: town,
pollution and environment", "Reduce chemicals", "Peer
education", etc.) in up to date cooperation with other European schools and
national associations.
Form 1G, 2G and 3 G are studying in a five year course which enable them
either to become chemical/biological laboratory technicians, or to attend the
university courses of Padova famous university. They study Italian, Maths,
Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, English and Economics at fairly high
levels.
