4. About the school

The school includes both a primary and a secondary grammar school with a total of 12 years. It is attached to Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, and serves as a training school.

It is situated near the City Park, not so far from the city centre. It has a large library, quite well-equipped science labs, an up-to-date computer room, and sports facilities, including two gymnasiums and access to the university swimming pool.

The school offers a wide choice of activities for the students to engage in outside the classroom: film club, literary „coffee shop”, green point group, and the other various groups and clubs work all over the year. Some events, like the stage competition, the Christmas concert, the ball organised in honour of the final year students involve all the students in the school and even some alumni.

Radnóti Days are of special importance: the students listen to serious talks and lectures given by invited experts and university lecturers, followed by chamber music concerts and/or a cultural quiz contest. Radnóti Days have different topics each year: Bible studies, environmental protection, Hungarian history etc. This year: the 100 years of the Nobel prize (Our students have been in correspondence with about 110 Nobel Prize winners and have set up a permanent exhibition in the hall from the valuable material they have received. The school was awarded the Peace Messenger Prize by the Secretary General of the United Nations for this exhibition.)

Summer camps and open air schools: sociography and archaeology camps, rowing and bicycle trips and hiking to come into direct contact with natural environment, to discover the local history and social and environmental problems of a certain area of the country.
