Protocol of the 1st project meeting

Arroyo de la Luz (Spain), November 24th - 30th, 2001

27.11.2001

TOP 1: Schoolmasterweb (www.schoolmaster.net):

  • payments after October 2001 for each month / each school

  • only if there are less than 50 different people registered

 TOP 2: Comenius Web

We need:

  • Drawings

  • descriptions of each aquatic system

  • project newspaper / one school for layout

  • information about exchanges

  • second year information

  • dates of next meetings

TOP 4: Reports of the countries:

SPAIN:

  • Teacher meetings / parents meetings 

  • biological analysis

  • no chemical measurements yet

  • English emails of the students after January (faxes, postcards instead)

  • 15 teachers involved

 ITALY:

  • cleaning the environment off rubbish (29th of September)

  • chemical measurements in October (25 students)

  • problems, because students don’t have enough spare time to be really engaged

  • 7 teachers involved

  • aim: orientation in the ecosystem after a self created map

  • excursion to an island

  • Agenda 21 meeting in January to inform other teachers

  • 4 students want an exchange

 HUNGARY:

  • second visit of an artificial lake in Budapest in September

  • compared with the youngest natural protected area in B. (stream for hobby fishing, forest and swamp)

  • connections of water plants and water animals

  • 20 different species of moss and many butterflies to watch

  • chemical measurements

  • traffic counting in the protected area (public road)

  • biological indicators analysis

  • insect trappings

  • ringing a bird in spring

  • swamp plants measurements

  • watching activities on the frozen lake in winter (skating)

 AZORES:

  • teacher and parents meetings

  • bird watching

  • chemical and biological measurements

  • drawings of the landscapes

  • feedback of the day (students filled out a form)

  • preparing of the next trip by the students (expectations, problems of nitrification)

  • CD-ROM of measurements and results 

  • (A for azure lake, V for green lake; 1 for border, 2 for middle lake) 

 GERMANY:

  • teacher meetings

  • parents evening with 4 classes of students involved about the culture of every country

  • measurements (biological and chemical)

  • strategy game with every involved class

  • Comenius week event with air balloons and wishes for Europe written by the students (November)

  • water as a top topic for one week (water week in January) 

 TOP 5: Suggestions and Improvements:

  • testing of the water quality

  • registering all typical plants around the ecosystem

  • collecting biotope data

  • using the forms of the TAPAS website (Hungary will create them)

  • use of fax, mail and CDs

  • increasing contacts, every student should have 2 partners

  • sending maps, pictures and histories of the ecosystems

 TOP 1: Ideas for the Action-1 website:

  • fast

  • with important links to homepage

  • a second homepage as a suggestion

  • external links

  • links for students

  • links to school websites

  • CD as a product of the activities

  • a mailbox on the first page for opinions and questions

  • more links of the different countries to use for information

  • links to related projects

  • a counter for counting the visits of the site

  • ecosystems as a part of the Comenius-web (presentations of the ecosystems till January, pictures of the measurements in steps, charts with pictures of the animals, drawings, no copies from books !)

 TOP 2: International work of the participating schools:

  • attempts to compare the results

  • find the reasons for different results

  • research work of the students to get background information

  • emailing to find solutions of economic problems

  • international questionnaire about indicators, pollution... (Italy)

  • riddle (crosswords) of every school (10 questions each)

  • emailing to find solutions

  • chatting (Italy: Mondays 2 - 3.30 pm; Azores: Thursdays / Fridays 3.30pm)

 TOP 3: Topics of year 2002:

  • art exhibitions related to the project: two-dimensions or any visual art, preparation this school year, presentation next school year, exhibition in every school for a couple of months

  •   history / geography: stories, tales, myths of the aquatic system to be send to each school

  • deadline: May / June 2002

  • Jan Amos Comenius 1592 - 1670: one student of every participating country writes one page about Comenius´ life in his native language till end of march 2002

  • language guide: creating most important sentences and words for a leaflet (max. 40)

  • video clip: of activities to send them to Germany for a video of the project

 TOP 4: Newspaper of the project:

  • for students, parents, teachers and external people

  • deadline of reports and pictures 15th April 2002

  •   Azorean school is responsible for layout

  • deadline of the layout 1st June 2002

  • printed in every country in color of a CD 

  • contents: pictures with English titles and the name of the country they belong to two reports in English and two reports in the native languages

  • every school decides about the contents themselves

  • send logos of the sponsors for the sponsors site index

29.11.2001:

 TOP 1: Application Form for 2002:

  • in English, to be send as an email

  • evaluation form about money use and topics till 1st of September

  • Germany will send the form to Italy 15th January 2002

  • deadline: 1st march 2002 to the national agency

TOP 2: Exchanges 2002:

  • apply for maximum amount of money

  • 20 students of Spain and Germany 

  • possibility to exchange one teacher

  • Hungary and Azores are going to exchange 4 students early April

  • important to exchange holiday dates of 02/03

 TOP 3: Ideas for other activities:

  • workshops about the future of the aquatic system (in 50, 100 years)

  • interactive material to use in the classrooms (puzzles, questionnaires)

  • power print game (quiz)

  • animals and plants in plastic or formalin

  • three dimensional map of the eco system

  • students play of historical tales about the area

  • more measurements

  • collecting ideas to save the system with the community, discussing problems of water shortness in summer

  • students prepare lessons related to water themselves

  • students teach younger students of the school or another school

  • create a didactic park

  • make of a brochure

  • interviews with people about their behavior with water in households

  • find out where the drinking water comes from

  • find rules to save water in households and communities

  • interactive presentations of eco system and saving water

  • looking for historical pollution and accidents around the area

TOP 4: Language assistant:

  • apply till 1st of march at the national agency

  • for 6 - 8 months

  • are students of universities

  • they give lessons and work regularly

  • information in the internet
